"Choyo no Sekku" is an event called "Hinamatsuri for adults" held on September 9th. Since the Heian period, it has been customary in Japan to appreciate chrysanthemum flowers and drink chrysanthemum liquor. Originally an event that came from China. In China, the odd number is "yang(yo)", and on September 9th, the largest number of yang is lined up, so it was called Choyo. It was a celebration day because the overlapping of the positive numbers was auspicious. Chrysanthemums are said to be medicinal flowers in China, and villages in areas where many chrysanthemums are in bloom are said to have a tendency to live longer. Events are rarely held in Japan now, but it seems that they were celebrated as auspicious days until around the Meiji era.
