It is a busy scene of the festival of Tango from the late Edo period to the early Meiji era. In Japan, since the Nara period, it seems that there was a custom of gathering in the palace with irises on the hair during the festival of Tango. Since the iris leaves resemble a sword, the festival of Tango was gradually regarded as a festival to celebrate the health of boys. In addition, armor helmets and Musashibo Benkei dolls have also been displayed. It seems that the custom of carp streamers began to be displayed in the Kanto region during the Edo period. It is said that May 5 was set as the Uma festival because May was the Uma month of the old Chinese calendar and 5 overlapping days were celebrations. Even in China, it seems that there has been a custom from May 5th to Tango, and it seems that Japan has been affected in some way. May 5th became Children's Day since 1948 and celebrates the health of all children. But originally, Tango Festival and Children's Day were separate events.
