In the back of Edo Castle, the housemaids are feeding the carps in the pond, but it looks something strange.
Even the carps, catfish, turtles and frogs in the pond have human faces.
Carps are considered to be Kabuki actors of this period.
The catfish are considered to be the sixth generation Ichikawa Danzo.
The 6th generation Ichikawa Danzo was a disciple of the 7th generation Ichikawa Danjuro.
This painting is a satirical image that depicts Kabuki actors who were popular in this period, as well as satire about the subtle offense and defense of the housemaids in Ooku of Edo Caste.
This picture was published in Uruu May in the 3rd year of Keio, but in this year, there was a Uruu May after the May.
