Kunimasa Utagawa the 4th (Kunisada Utagawa the 3rd)

Kaei 1st (1848)born, Taisho 9th (1920) died
Ukiyoe artist from the late Edo period to the Meiji period. He was under Toyokuni Utagawa the 3rd and Toyokuni Utagawa the 4th’s school. Born of Edo Nihonbashi.
Ansei 5th (1858), introduced to Toyokuni Utagawa the 3rd, and named Kunimasa Umedo, and Kunimasa Ichijusai (Kunimasa Utagawa the 4th). After his master's death, he studied under Kunisada Utagawa the 2nd (Toyokuni Utagawa the 4th).

In Meiji 22nd (1887), succeed by Kunisada the 3rd, called “Kochoro”.
Primarily, he drew civilization and actors paintings, and he was good at caricatures of Sadanji Ichikawa.

There are also many genre paintings. In the period of “Kunimasa the 4th”, three consecutive paintings such as "Tokyo Twelve Scenery", "Tokyo Sights List", "Tokyo civilization Famous Scenery", "Tokyo Owari Street Prosperity Drawing", "Tokyo Ginza Brick Stone Prosperity Drawing", etc. were drawn. He drew a number of steam locomotives and was aggressive in civilization paintings.
