Hiroshige Utagawa the 2nd (Shigenobu Utagawa)

The disciple of Hiroshige Utagawa the 1st. He joined to the Hiroshige Utagawa the 1st family, around Koka period, and named Shigenobu at first.

He drew beautiful women paintings, flower and bird paintings, and Samurai pictures, and eventually began to draw landscape paintings, gradually approaching the area of Hiroshige the 1st generation. In addition, we draw Yokohama pictures.

When Hiroshige the 1st died in Ansei 5th (1858), in the next years he married with Otatsu who was adopted daughter of Hiroshige the 1st, and succeeded Hiroshige’s name, then named Hiroshige the 2nd.

He also joined the collaboration work with Hiroshige the 1st, for the products of “Popular Edo 100 landscapes”, and he signed “Hiroshige the 2nd” on the product of “Akasaka Kirihata Ukei Yukei” in the 120 lineups.
In addition, he left Yokohama and civilization development with the sign of “Rissho”.
His painting style was drawing beautiful women in the Utagawa style, following his master, we can feel his calm character from these products.
